Sea Mullet. You know it better than you think.
Our fish -
Every autumn, Sea Mullet gather in large schools and run up the east coast. It's one of our great fish migrations, and a fishery woven into the history of this coast.
These fish can be seen rolling through the waves at our favourite breaks, darting through the shallows of our local beaches and stirring up a frenzy of marine life along the way.
These same fish, from these same waters, are where every Kirra Canning Co tin begins. Wild-caught by local fishermen, the same way they have been for generations.
Our process -
- We brine our fillets in salt from the Pacific Ocean, brown sugar and molasses from cane grown right here in our region.
- It's then hot-smoked over she-oak, the trees that line our coastline and watch over the mullet as they grow.
- Finally, it's hand-packed and sealed in Australian olive oil.
Our Product -
Delicious, nourishing and made with honest ingredients.
This is a tin for those who look past the obvious choice and know the difference when they taste it.
